Hello, my dears
Well that first post of the month certainly is the gift that keeps on giving, isn’t it? And to think that at first, I was reluctant to do it! But it went over really well with you lot, and not only did it inspire me to share another useful bit of information last week, it got enough of a response to warrant a follow-up.
Affordable Fuel on Your Phone
That’s right – this week, we’re going back to the topic of fuel. This time, though, we’re not talking about how to reduce your fuel consumption when you’re an owner driver, but rather, where to FIND affordable fuel when you’re an owner driver so that you may BE fuel efficient. See how it all ties together?
In all seriousness, though, this week’s post is mostly about this Android app I read about, which helps drivers find out where the nearest and cheapest source of petrol is at any given time and in any given area.
The app (get me, talking about apps!) was designed by a company called Allstar, and what it does is locate the nearest place for drivers to find some discount diesel to top their van up with – and we all know that the price of fuel is always a big deal for the owner driver. The way it goes about doing this is by using Google Maps and all those other new-fangled technologies that are so useful these days. They can help you find anything and I do mean ‘anything’ – I even found a shop that sold a special kind of baking powder I needed, only a couple of towns over! But I digress…
I don’t think I need to explain just how and why this program is so important to an owner driver, or even someone who works for a larger courier company. No business owner likes to spend money if they can save, and this application helps them do just that. Maybe that’s why so many people have been using it and it has become so popular! Stevie has it on his phone and he absolutely loves it!
As for me, though, having shared that, my work here is done. So all that’s left for me to say is…
Stay ‘in-the-loop’ with the latest news, products and services from Courier Exchange.
Well, it appears I may have to eat a small serving of my words this week. Why am I embarrassed, you might ask? Well, if you were paying attention you'll know that last week I published a post about how I was glad owner driver jobs were becoming more popular in order to offer some healthy competition to Royal Mail. I was saying I think it's a lesson for the Post Office not to get smug and to actually update their prices.Read the full article
Do you rely on the road for a living? If so, you probably contribute thousands of pounds each year to their upkeep. But as a tax payer, are you getting value for money? Well, after two posts where Stevie either took over or helped me write, I finally get to spend some one-on-one time with you all. Long overdue, if you ask me!
And what better way to celebrate the occasion than by writing a post dedicated not to those who have been reading this blog for donkey's years (although you know I love you), but to those who may have just found us? Or maybe even relatives of my readers, who may be interested in taking up courier work as an owner driver, but are not quite sure if they are cut out for it?Read the full article
