Bit of an odd post today, as you may have seen by the title. And before you ask – no, it’s not sponsored or anything. I just wanted to talk about a specific brand of van, because I know many of you darlings like it and drive it in your day-to-day jobs. So I just know those of you who do will be ecstatic at what I have to tell you.
See, according to an article I found a few days ago, Ford – yes, that company that makes courier vans – got together with some partners in Germany to design a new type of seating for their vans, so as to make it more comfortable to drivers. So, if you’ve ever had a good moan about how uncomfortable the seats were in a Transit van (Stevie says they’re wonderful, but I’m sure everyone will have their own opinion) then you’ll probably want to keep on top of what Ford is doing in terms of research and development. And, if like Stevie you’re already a fan, knowing they’re potentially going to be even better is a bonus!
According to what it said in the article, there is already a van benefiting from Ford’s findings – and it’s available right here in the UK! The Ford development team in Dunton has apparently been putting the international team’s findings to good use, and have implemented the new and improved seating and steering wheel designs on the Ford Transit F-150. So if you (or your company)are thinking of upgrading to this particular model of Transit van you’re in luck!
On top of this, Ford also gets Brownie points for thinking of female drivers as much as males when designing the seating and dashboard of their new Transit van. After all, us girls don’t always get catered for in an industry where most workers are men. So it’s always good to see it happen, even if it’s just in a small way. Well done, Ford!
As far as the specifics, I shan’t bore you with them, but if you’re interested in knowing more (with quotes from the Managing Director of the UK plant and everything) follow the link above. You can write in and thank me for finding it later!
From me, though, the only thing left to say for now is…

Well, it appears I may have to eat a small serving of my words this week. Why am I embarrassed, you might ask? Well, if you were paying attention you'll know that last week I published a post about how I was glad owner driver jobs were becoming more popular in order to offer some healthy competition to Royal Mail. I was saying I think it's a lesson for the Post Office not to get smug and to actually update their prices.Read the full article

I hope you're having an excellent start to your summer and enjoying the balmy weather. After all those months of winter, we deserve it!
Just because it's warm, though, it does not mean you should drop your professional standards. A courier should be just as diligent in summer as they are in winter, and whatever rules they observe then, they should observe year round – particularly when it comes to road safety.Read the full article
